What We Do
Here at THE CITY we are people from various backgrounds and walks-of-life who have come together to know and worship Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who loved us and gave up His very life for us. We believe that we were created for fellowship with God and with other people, and that we were made to love God and be His ambassadors making a positive difference in all stratas of society. As such we desire to bring God's love, mercy and grace, and His message of HOPE to the city of Austin.
God's plan of salvation
We were created in the image of the eternal Creator God. As such we were made to worship Him and enjoy God forever.
Our own rebellion against the ways of God have caused a separation between us and God, which in religious language is commonly referred to as the separation of sinful man from a holy God.
Because God loved us and because of His very nature of love, mercy and grace He rescued us from a deserved punishment by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us. This is known in Theology as penal substitutionary atonement.
Jesus suffered the PENALTY we earned for our rebellion.
Jesus lived the life I could not live and died the death I should have died in my place.
Jesus reconciled us to God, repairing the relationship we ruined.
If we by faith receive Jesus' work of penal substitutionary atonement we are reconciled to God whom we may now know as a loving and gracious heavenly Father.
Being rescued thus from our sin has implications both for our lives here and now as well as for our eternal destiny.
